Watch Care Guide

A well-cared-for watch looks like new for years. A few simple habits are all it takes.

Everyday cleaning

• Wipe the case and bracelet with a soft, lint-free cloth. Perspiration and perfume residue cause the most wear.
• On steel bracelets you can clean between the links with a soft, dry toothbrush.
• Do not use alcohol, acetone, bleach or abrasive cleaners — they damage the plating and the seals.
• Keep leather straps dry. If a strap gets wet, let it dry at room temperature, away from radiators.

Water and humidity

Water resistance varies by model and is stated on each product page. Check your own watch’s rating first.

• Even on water-resistant models we advise against showers, saunas and steam rooms: hot water and steam expand the seals.
• Never pull out the crown or press the pushers while the watch is wet.
• If the watch has been exposed to sea water, rinse it with fresh water and dry it.
• If you see condensation inside the glass, stop wearing the watch and contact service.

Watches exposed to water beyond their stated rating fall outside the warranty.

Protecting the plating

Gold and rose-plated surfaces wear over time; this is a normal result of wear and is not covered by the warranty. To make it last: apply perfume, hairspray and cosmetics before putting the watch on, and avoid rubbing it against hard surfaces.

Battery and movement

• Battery life depends on use. If the watch runs slow, or the second hand jumps every two seconds, the battery is close to the end.
• Do not leave a dead battery inside the watch for long; leakage can damage the movement.
• Have batteries changed at an authorised service centre. Opening the case requires the seals to be reset, and unauthorised work voids the warranty.

Storage

When not wearing it, keep the watch in its own box in a cool, dry place. Keep it away from direct sunlight, radiators and humid rooms such as bathrooms. Magnetic fields — speakers, tablet covers, fridge doors — can affect the accuracy of the movement.

When to contact service

If the watch stops or runs noticeably slow, if there is condensation under the glass, if the crown sticks, or if you notice the bracelet loosening, follow the steps on our Warranty & Service page.
