When choosing a women's watch, half of the decision is about design; the other half is about the purchase itself: is the specification complete, does the water resistance suit your use, what does the warranty cover, is the seller authorised, are the return terms clear, and are strap sizing and spare parts available? A watch bought without these six checks tends to cause trouble at the first battery change or the first contact with water.
This guide focuses on that second half. Which case size and design suit you is covered in separate guides: how to choose a women's watch (size and criteria) and women's watch models style guide (style). Here you will find what to do before and after the purchase.
6 checks before you buy
- Is the technical specification complete? (movement, case size, water resistance, crystal, strap)
- Does the water resistance suit your use? (daily wear 3 ATM, showers 5 ATM, swimming 10 ATM)
- Are the warranty period and scope in writing?
- Is there an authorised service centre in Türkiye?
- Are the return and exchange terms clear?
- Are strap sizing and spare parts provided?
1. How to read a technical specification
Short answer: A good product page always gives five pieces of information: the movement, the case size in mm, the water resistance in ATM, the crystal type, and the case and strap material. If anything is missing, ask before you buy.
| Detail | What to look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Movement | Quartz / automatic | Determines the maintenance burden and the case thickness |
| Case size | In mm (e.g. 30 × 30 mm) | The only measure of fit on the wrist |
| Water resistance | ATM or metres | The safety limit in daily wear |
| Crystal | Mineral / hardened mineral / sapphire | Determines scratch resistance |
| Case and strap material | Stainless steel, type of plating | Sensitivity, wear and lifespan |
Red flag: If words such as "gold" appear but there is no purity mark (14K, 18K), the watch is not solid gold; it is plated. More detail: gold watch models. For movement types, see what is a quartz watch.
2. How to read the water resistance rating
Short answer: 3 ATM covers rain, hand washing and perspiration; 5 ATM covers showers and splashes; 10 ATM covers swimming. For daily wear, 3 ATM is enough and 5 ATM adds a margin of safety. This is the most misunderstood technical figure and the source of a large share of faults not covered by warranty.
- 3 ATM (30 m): rain, hand washing, perspiration. Showers are not included.
- 5 ATM (50 m): showers, splashes, brief contact with water.
- 10 ATM and above: swimming and water sports.
Important: These ratings depend on the gaskets. If the gaskets are not replaced during a battery change, the protection level on the label no longer applies. Dice Kayek models are rated 3 or 5 ATM; the rating is stated on every product page. More detail: how long does a watch battery last.
3. Warranty: scope matters as much as duration
Short answer: In Türkiye, the common practice for watches is 2 years. The movement and manufacturing defects are covered; plating wear, crystal scratches, strap wear, battery replacement and water damage caused by the user are excluded. Work carried out by an unauthorised service voids the warranty.
Look for three things in a warranty certificate: the period, the scope and the conditions of validity. Dice Kayek watches carry a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects; the certificate comes with the product and is also published on the site: warranty and service · warranty certificate.
4. How to verify an authorised retailer and authenticity
Short answer: Ask for an invoice and a warranty certificate, confirm that the model code is the same on the product, the case back and the certificate, and stay away from prices well below market value and from sellers who only use manufacturer images.
- Invoice and warranty certificate. The most concrete proof of authenticity.
- Model code. Confirm that the code on the product, the case back and the warranty certificate is the same.
- Price logic. A price well below market value is the most reliable indicator of a replica.
- Image quality. Be wary of sellers who do not share real photographs of the product.
- Return policy. Do not buy from a seller who offers no clear return terms.
Checking a brand's network of authorised retailers and service centres in Türkiye is also the most practical criterion for choosing a brand: watch brands: the most preferred in Türkiye.
5. What does the price cover?
Short answer: Five factors separate the prices of two watches that look the same: the source and accuracy grade of the movement, the crystal type, the plating method (PVD/IP is more durable and more costly), the case work (angular forms and multi-faceted finishes require more operations) and the service and warranty infrastructure; the factor you cannot see, yet the most valuable one.
6. What to consider when buying a watch online
Short answer: The product page should state the case size in mm, the movement, the water resistance and the crystal; the return period and shipping terms should be clear; and an invoice and a warranty certificate should be provided. Draw the case diameter on paper and hold it against your wrist; a screen distorts size.
- Verify the size. Draw the case diameter on paper with a ruler, cut it out and hold it against your wrist. Table by wrist size: how to choose a women's watch.
- Read the return period. At Dice Kayek, it is 30 days from delivery, with no reason required; the return shipping is covered by the brand: returns and exchanges.
- Shipping and delivery. Shipping within Türkiye is free, and orders are dispatched within 2 business days at the latest: shipping and delivery.
- Payment. Instalment options and card security: instalments and payment.
- Images. Check that the product images show the product itself and that any use of artificial intelligence is disclosed: use of artificial intelligence.
What to do in the first week after purchase
- Have the strap sized. The watch should sit with one finger's width of room on the wrist; links on a steel bracelet are removed at an authorised service centre, while a mesh strap can be adjusted at home. The right position: which wrist should a watch be worn on.
- Keep the invoice and warranty certificate. Photograph them and archive them digitally as well.
- Check the accuracy. Observe the daily deviation during the first week; a quartz watch should not deviate by more than 15–20 seconds a month.
- Limit water contact in the first days. If you see condensation inside the dial, take the watch to a service centre immediately.
- Keep the box. It is valuable both for storage and for a future sale.
Care habits for a long life
- Do not use perfume or hairspray while wearing the watch.
- Push the crown fully back in after setting; a half-open crown removes the water resistance.
- Clean the strap once a month with a soft cloth; the dirt between the links is abrasive. Watch strap types.
- Avoid saunas, Turkish baths and very hot showers; heat wears out the gaskets.
- When the watch is not in use, keep it in its box, away from direct sunlight: watch care guide.
A safe choice: featured models
The strip below reads stock levels live; sold-out models do not appear in the list. These models meet the technical minimums set out in this guide: quartz movement, solid stainless steel case, hardened mineral crystal, adjustable steel or mesh strap; the water resistance rating is stated on the product page.
Transparent specification
A full technical specification for every model
Case size, movement, water resistance, crystal type and strap details are listed in full on every product page. You can filter the collection by case shape, case colour, dial colour and dial diameter.

- Ordering without checking the case size. Photographs do not convey size accurately; the only reliable figure is the case size in mm.
- Showering with a 3 ATM watch. 3 ATM is for daily wear; it is not enough for showers or swimming.
- Having the battery changed at an unauthorised shop. If the gasket is not replaced, the water resistance is lost and the warranty may be void.
- Assuming a leather strap suits every situation. With heavy use, it needs replacing every 1–3 years.
- Choosing a seasonal design. A watch is worn for 5–10 years on average; a trend-led design dates within that time: 2026 women's watch trends.
- Not keeping the invoice and warranty certificate. They are needed both for service and for a future sale.
Frequently asked questions
What should you consider when buying a women's watch?
Six checks are needed: a complete technical specification (movement, case size, water resistance, crystal, strap), a water resistance rating that suits your use (3 ATM is enough for daily wear, 5 ATM for showers and splashes), a written warranty period and scope, an authorised service centre in Türkiye, clear return and exchange terms, and strap sizing with spare part support.
How many ATM of water resistance is enough for a women's watch?
For daily wear (rain, hand washing, perspiration) 3 ATM (30 metres) is enough; showers and splashes call for 5 ATM, and swimming for 10 ATM or more. The rating depends on the gaskets; if the gaskets are not replaced during a battery change, the protection level on the label no longer applies.
What does a watch warranty cover?
The movement and manufacturing defects are usually covered. Plating wear, crystal scratches, strap wear, battery replacement and water damage caused by the user are excluded by most brands. Work carried out by an unauthorised service, especially a battery change, can void the warranty.
How can you tell whether a watch is authentic?
An invoice and a warranty certificate are the most concrete proof. Confirm that the model code on the product, the case back and the warranty certificate is the same. Prices well below market value, and sellers who only use manufacturer images and never share real photographs of the product, are warning signs.
What should you consider when buying a watch online?
The product page should state the case size in mm, the movement, the water resistance and the crystal; the return period and shipping terms should be clear; and the seller should provide an invoice and a warranty certificate. Drawing the case diameter on paper and holding it against your wrist avoids the size illusion of a screen. At Dice Kayek, shipping within Türkiye is free and the return period is 30 days from delivery.
What determines the price of a women's watch?
The main factors are the source and accuracy grade of the movement, the crystal type (there is a real difference between hardened mineral and standard mineral), the plating method (PVD and IP coatings are more durable and more costly), the complexity of the case work, and the brand's service and warranty infrastructure.
What should you do in the first week with a new watch?
Have the strap sized at an authorised service centre (leaving one finger's width of room on the wrist), keep the invoice and warranty certificate, observe the daily deviation during the first week, be careful with water contact, and take the watch to a service centre immediately if you see condensation inside the dial.
